Eligibility Check
Check your Class XII certificate, board, subjects and any additional qualification in the official DAAD admission database, then confirm with the institution. If Studienkolleg is required, select the subject course accepted for your intended Bachelor’s field, such as T, M, W or G/S where offered.

Meet the Language Requirement
German-taught preparatory courses commonly set B1 or B2 entry requirements and may hold an entrance test. The current German Missions in India study-visa guidance requires at least B1 for a German preparatory course; the institution decides the accepted certificate and admission level.

APS Certificate
Use the current APS procedure that matches your education—Class XII, Class XII with JEE Main and Advanced, or undergraduate study. Follow that procedure’s exact checklist and check official exemptions; APS currently lists a non-refundable fee of ₹18,000 for individual applications.

Apply to Studienkolleg
Apply directly or through uni-assist according to the university or Studienkolleg instructions. Deadlines and document lists vary and can close earlier than general university dates, so use the exact page for your chosen intake.

Entrance Test & Admission
Complete any required Aufnahmeprüfung (entrance examination). Secure the recognised preparatory-course or university admission document needed for your study-visa application.

Proof of Funds
Use an accepted proof of secure livelihood. For a blocked account, German Missions in India currently state €11,904 for the first year with a €992 monthly withdrawal limit; confirm the amount again when you apply because financial thresholds can change.

Health Insurance
Arrange the health-insurance certificate required from your intended arrival date. Confirm whether statutory or private cover applies to your preparatory-course status and later university enrolment.

Complete Class XII and check your undergraduate eligibility in the DAAD admission database. If prior university study is the appropriate route, enrol at a recognised Indian institution in a subject related to your intended German degree.

Complete 2 Semesters in India
Successfully complete at least two Bachelor semesters and retain complete marksheets. This may provide subject-restricted eligibility, but it is not automatic; the German university makes the final admission decision.

Meet the Study-Language Requirement
Take the exact English or German certificate accepted by the chosen program and meet its stated score or CEFR level. Do not assume one IELTS score applies to every English-taught Bachelor’s course.

APS Certificate
Use the APS checklist for undergraduates with at least two completed semesters and submit every document it requests. Check the official APS exemption rules before starting the procedure.

University Application

Complete Bachelor Degree in India
Complete a recognised Bachelor degree and shortlist related programs. Each Master’s course sets its own grade, subject-credit and module requirements; there is no single percentage or CGPA rule for Germany.

Language Requirement
Meet the exact English or German language level and certificate listed by the program. Accepted tests and minimum results differ by university and course.

APS Certificate
Follow the APS checklist for graduates and postgraduates, unless an official exemption applies. For selected Indian Master’s applicants in affected subject groups, dMAT is required for summer semester 2027 and later intakes.

Prepare Application Documents
Prepare the complete degree certificate, all transcripts and the official grading system. Add a CV, motivation letter, references, work proof, portfolio, GRE or GMAT only when the chosen program requests them.

Apply via Uni-Assist or Direct
Follow the exact route for each program: direct university portal, uni-assist standard application or VPD. A VPD must still reach the university before its deadline, so request it early and check current processing times and fees.

Choose a recognised school-based or company-based vocational training occupation that fits your education and interests. Examples include nursing, IT, hospitality, automotive trades, banking and logistics.

The vocational-training visa normally requires B1 German when the training institution has not already tested your skills and no preparatory course was completed. Employers, schools and regulated occupations may require a higher level.

Search official Make it in Germany and Federal Employment Agency listings, then check employer websites. Apply with the documents and German-language level requested in the vacancy.

Ausbildung Contract
Obtain a specific training place and signed contract. Duration and allowance depend on the occupation, training year, employer and collective agreement; confirm whether the pay covers the current visa livelihood threshold.

Visa & Arrival
