Student Visa Process – Step by Step

The German student visa process involves several stages including APS verification, university admission, financial proof, and embassy appointment. Students should ideally begin the process 6–8 months before their intended intake.

Apply for the APS certificate first. Processing typically takes 4–8 weeks. Without APS verification, university applications from Indian students are usually not processed.

Apply to German universities through Uni-Assist or directly through university portals. After evaluation, you will receive an admission letter (Zulassungsbescheid).

Step 3: Blocked Account (€11,904)
Open a German blocked account with providers such as Fintiba, Expatrio, or Coracle. Students must deposit €11,904 per year (approx. €992 available monthly).

Purchase travel health insurance for the visa application. After arrival in Germany, students must enroll in public student health insurance (TK, AOK, Barmer etc.), typically costing €120–€140 per month.

Book a student visa appointment through the official VFS Global portal for Germany. Appointment waiting times may vary between 4–12 weeks depending on demand.
